The Haryana Compulsory Registration of Marriage Act, 2008, and the Haryana Compulsory Registration of Marriage Rules, 2008 govern marriage registration in Gurgaon. Rules for marriage registration in Gurgaon


Within 90 days of the date of marriage, the parties to a marriage are entitled to have their marriage registered with the registrar of the region in which the marriage was solemnised or the place of residence of the bride/her parents or the bridegroom/his parents.


A marriage must be registered by the registrar of marriages within 90 days of the wedding since the Haryana Compulsory Registration of Marriage Act, 2008, took effect. The period beyond this restriction and any additional changes would be subject to the following conditions:


If registration is sought after 90 days but before 365 days, the marriage may be registered only with the permission of the

District Registrar and after the applicant signs an undertaking explaining the reason for the delay.


Permission from the appropriate Additional Chief Registrar is necessary for marriages filed for registration after 365 days

following solemnization.


Persons whose marriages were solemnised before July 16, 2008, may register their marriages if they are residents of the 

state  at the time of registration, according to the criteria and restrictions set forth in the order. To register a marriage, the

Registrar of Marriages does not need authorization from any higher authority.


Such parties to a marriage, who have married outside the state but are residents of the state, may also get their marriage

registered in the state subject to the terms and conditions mentioned in the order.


Parties to a marriage who married outside of the state but live in the state may have their marriage registered in the state, 

according to the terms and limitations set forth in the order.
