You can apply for marriage certificate in Mumbai online via 
Mahaonline website. You can also visit the Sub-Registrar or Additional District magistrate office to register your marriage. During the marriage registration process the bride, the bridegroom and two witnesses presence is required. A date will be set for marriage registration, and all the parties should be present to validate the marriage. The supporting documents and form are submitted during the set date and the marriage certificate is issued. Please note that the rules and documents are different for Marriages under Hindu Act of 1955 and Parsi Act of 1936 .

  • Go to - MyBMC - BMC's Website 
  • In the “For Citizens” tab, choose “Registration-Marriage”. Click on “Apply here”.
  • The online application form link is Marriage Registration - MyBMC - Welcome to BMC's Website (mcgm.gov.in). Fill out the marriage certificate application form with the required details and submit the necessary documents.
  • After applying, the duly completed “Form D” (Memorandum) will be mailed to the applicant which can be downloaded in PDF format. 
  • After completing the online registration for the marriage certificate Mumbai, the concerned party should visit the marriage registrar’s office in Mumbai and apply along with the necessary documents. 
  • The Registrar will issue the marriage certificate to the applicant within a week.



Processing time for a marriage certificate in Mumbai


Marriage certificates are processed within 15 days for weddings under the Hindu Marriage Act under the normal scheme. Weddings registered under the Special Marriage Act take 30 days. Mumbaikars can register for their weddings under “tatkal scheme” and receive a marriage certificate within 24 hours for a fee of Rs. 10,000.
